What is a Business Plan & How is it Helpful?

A Business Plan is a document that captures the pieces you need to think about when starting a business. All the pieces work together to bring your idea to life - the Business Plan is your guide to success.

As an entrepreneur, it’s important to focus on some key points.  Here are some things to ask yourself about your business idea so you can easily complete your answers to the business plan questions.

Target Audience

Q.  Who are you trying to sell your product or service to?

Consider the age of your target customers, what they like, what products or services they want or need. Where do these potential customers get their information?

Brand Message

Q. What are you communicating and why does it matter?

What do you offer? What problem do you solve?   What makes you unique?

Marketing Channels & Strategy

Where will you show up?

Will you use social media?  Which platforms? Will you use email? What offline marketing would you use?  - Posters? Flyers? Farmers Markets or other events?

How often will you post on social media?

What skills and tools will you need to use to help market your business?  Video editing, Canva, CapCut?

How much will marketing cost?

Revenue Development

What are you selling?

How will your efforts make money?

What will your business expenses be for materials and marketing?

What will it cost to produce your product or service?

How will you price your product?
