Middlesex County Unveils New Economic Development & Tourism Strategy for 2026–2030

MIDDLESEX COUNTY (March 26, 2026) – Middlesex County is pleased to share the launch of its new Economic Development and Tourism Strategic Plan. Building on the success of our previous strategy, it’s a roadmap designed to fuel growth, spark innovation, and showcase everything that makes our region a great place to live, work, build, and explore.

This plan highlights what makes Middlesex County special: our collaboration, our creativity and our commitment to building for the future alongside our local and regional partners, businesses, and senior levels of government.

The strategy lays out how Invest in Middlesex will work with local and regional partners on a coordinated approach to investment attraction, business retention and expansion, workforce development and tourism promotion. As an upper-tier municipality, Middlesex County plays a key role in generating opportunities, strengthening regional competitiveness, and supporting local municipal partners.

“This strategy positions Middlesex County’s economic development activities with purpose and energy, while continuing to deliver exceptional value for our residents and businesses,” says Sue Clarke, Middlesex County Warden. “It’s about building up our economic foundation today while setting the stage for long‑term success.”

The new plan also incorporates regular reporting and long‑term economic indicators, ensuring that the County’s progress stays transparent, measurable, and aligned with its vision. By strengthening internal capacity, Middlesex County will continue to deliver high‑quality economic development services and reinforce the tools and processes needed to track and demonstrate results.

“We’re excited about the direction this strategy sets for our region,” said Cara Finn, Middlesex County Director of Economic Development. “It’s bold, practical, and built on real partnerships. From supporting our local municipalities in readying industrial lands to attract investment, to enhancing our visitor experiences, this plan helps us tell the Middlesex County story in a bigger, vivid way.”
