Glencoe, ON – The Municipality of Southwest Middlesex is thrilled to announce over $2 million in senior government support to unlock new serviced industrial land in Glencoe, fueling local growth, attracting investment, and creating jobs through the Glencoe Business and Industrial Park Servicing Project.
The project is being made possible through a $1.375 million grant from the Province of Ontario’s Southwestern Ontario Development Fund (SWODF), along with an interest-free loan of $687,500 from the County of Middlesex. The Municipality itself will contribute the remaining $687,500, which will be recouped through future land sales.
“The Ontario government is proud to invest in communities like Southwest Middlesex,” said MPP Steve Pinsonneault. “This funding supports long-term economic development, job creation, and new opportunities for business attraction right here in Middlesex County.”
“This project represents a game-changing opportunity for growth in Southwest Middlesex,” said Mayor Allan Mayhew. “With support from the Province and the County, we’re unlocking new industrial land that will bring jobs, investment, and economic strength to our region for years to come.”
“The County of Middlesex is proud to support our municipal partners in preparing shovel-ready land for investment,” said Warden Brian Ropp. “Projects like this contribute to growing assessment, enhancing economic development, and strengthening communities across Middlesex County.”
Once complete, the $2.75 million project will provide full servicing to the industrial park with water, wastewater, stormwater, road, and utility infrastructure.
Based on strong and growing demand for smaller, serviced industrial lots, Council approved a new servicing concept designed to better meet the needs of modern businesses and developers. The goal is to attract new investment while supporting local business expansion and long-term economic vitality.
Planning and design work is already underway, with construction expected to begin in 2026 and substantial completion targeted for 2026, followed by full project completion in 2027.
The Municipality is now accepting lot reservations from interested businesses.
Highlights include:
- Serviced lots priced between $80,000 and $100,000 per acre (cost-recovery pricing, well below regional rates)
- Projected to create 150–200 permanent jobs
- 75–100 spin-off jobs in supporting industries
- Significant employment during construction phase
Strategically located between Highways 401 and 402, the industrial park is well-positioned to serve:
- Logistics and distribution hubs
- Light manufacturing operations
- Agri-business and food processing
- Suppliers for nearby major developments like the Volkswagen EV battery plant and Amazon warehouse in St. Thomas
Businesses interested in locating in the park are encouraged to reach out to:
