Career Edge is an employer-driven organization that provides 6, 9 and 12-month internships to post-secondary graduates (university bachelor’s degree or college diploma/certificate). It provides employers with access to a database of over 11,000 graduates in a wide variety of fields. The employers incur a total cost of approximately $27,454 for a 12-month internship, of which $22,000 is a stipend for the student. Firms must also provide students with designated mentors and meet Career Edge’s host agreement and code of conduct guidelines.

You can claim this credit if you are a corporation that provided a qualifying work placement at a permanent establishment in Ontario for a student enrolled in a qualifying post-secondary co-operative education program.
The credit is equal to an eligible percentage (25% to 30%) of the eligible expenditures incurred by the corporation for a qualifying work placement. The maximum credit for each qualifying work placement is $3,000.

Individuals eligible for financial assistance under Ontario Works gain access to a number of employment assistance programs including job-specific skills training, literacy screening and training, Learning, Earning and Parenting (LEAP) and placement services. Local Ontario Works offices arrange for connections and interview preparation between their clients and local businesses. Employers hiring Ontario Works clients are eligible for funding to offset the employee’s formal and on-the-job training.

The Targeted Wage Subsidies (TWS) assist unemployed eligible individuals and employers in the improvement of their skills and employability. Businesses, organizations, municipalities, band/tribal councils, public health and educational institutions, and provincial/territorial governments are eligible for assistance. Employers benefit from financial assistance in the form of a subsidy, which is intended to cover the cost of the participant’s wage.

For youth who are unemployed, not in school full-time and between 15 and 29, Ontario will do more to help you connect with employers and get a job placement of four to six months.
We will provide incentives to employers to help cover the cost of wages and training for new hires and help youth cover costs like transportation or tools required for the job.
Job placements will provide more opportunities for youth to build skills and confidence, get valuable work experience and connect with employers.
who is eligible? you may be eligible if you are:
- between 15 and 29 years of age
- unemployed
- not attending school full-time and
- a resident of Ontario.
We will make special effort to help youth facing barriers to work, including:
- Youth on social assistance
- Aboriginal youth
- Youth with a disability

The Youth Employment and Skills Strategy (YESS) is the Government of Canada's commitment to help young people, particularly those facing barriers to employment, get the information and gain the skills, work experience and abilities they need to make a successful transition into the labour market.
The YESS is a horizontal initiative involving eleven federal departments and agencies. The previous streams offered by the YES, which we merged together to create a more integrated and flexible service delivery network, are Skills Link, Career Focus, and Summer Work Experience (excluding Canada Summer Jobs).

The Student Work Placement Program (SWPP) is an initiative to increase the job-readiness of students registered in STEM, healthcare, business, and all other programs at Canadian post-secondary institutions.
The program gives employers the freedom to:
- Gain access to funds to hire students
- Leverage a pool of workers eager to enhance their skills
- Develop new talent for future recruitment needs
The program’s wage subsidies help knock down cost barriers, by covering the cost of a student’s salary by 50% up to a maximum of $5,000 and 70% up to a maximum of $7,000 for first-year students and under-represented groups including: women in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM); indigenous students; persons with disabilities; members of a visible minority; and newcomers.

The Skilled Newcomer Internship for the Bio-economy program helps newcomers get a foot in the door. The program covers 75% of a participant’s salary up to a maximum of $20,000 for bio-economy employers to hire, accommodate and train IEPs for a three-to-nine-month work placement. It presents an opportunity for employers to access talented individuals they might not have otherwise considered for roles.

The Achievement Incentive is a grant program that:
- helps employers train apprentices by reducing some of the cost of training
- supports apprentice progression by giving grant payments to employers when their apprentices reach major milestones
The program offers up to $17,000 to eligible employers when apprentices meet training and certification milestones.

The Apprenticeship Job Creation Tax Credit (AJCTC) is a non-refundable investment tax credit (ITC) equal to 10% of the eligible salaries and wages payable to eligible apprentices in respect of employment after May 1, 2006. The maximum credit an employer can claim is $2,000 per year for each eligible apprentice. If your business hires an eligible apprentice, you qualify to claim the credit.

Eligible employers can apply for funding for projects that give work experience to unemployed Ontarians, help their community and benefit their local economy. Job seekers, also known as participants, can work on projects that:
